Updates!

I’ve made a few, admittedly quite minor, updates to the long-neglected GEM section of the web site. Nothing too exciting though, I’m afraid.
I did, some years ago, mirror various old GEM sites which are now lost from the Internet, and hope to be able to restore their content at some point via a special Archive section of the site. Quite when that will happen remains to be seen.
Thanks for keeping this GEM stuff around! I’ve been trying to get what’s left to function on my old PS/2 and am definitely making headway thanks to your great info here! I was able to install and run your version as well as the version at opendawn. Both display oddly though, with no window decorations and no color. Strange as my machine is standard IBM VGA (in fact the original VGA as it came out). Is there any kind of forum or anything out there for discussion? I used to be a programmer, mostly in C but also a little BASIC and Pascal. I’d like to try writing a GEM app at some point.

Sorry, just belated seen (and approved) your comment! I don’t know if you’ll ever come back and read this, but if you do, there is (or was) still a GEM Developers mailing list, which you should be able to access here – except as of right now, it seems to be unavailable. Hmm. There’s not really anything else that I’m aware of for PC GEM – you may find a few of us old farts on Twitter.

Is that GEM Dev list alive? I tried to subscribe it with no success:

It was still alive as of last August, but the maintainer of the list did note that a software update had broken it last January. I’ll send him a message.
