Blog: The Life Of A Supreme Ruler
Wahey! That was fun…
That was a fun afternoon. π Nice and sunny outside. Yes.
Locomotion is out, depending on where you live. I’ve not got it yet, but I should do soon… the demo is very fun indeed. π
Oh well, I’m going to go and check the forums, and then go and watch some TV or something. Can’t wait until tomorrow! (Not often I say that, at least in relation to school). TTFN.
Woof!
Sick And Vicious

Oh, yes. Yes indeed.
First to guess what this means gets a smartie.
A robotic wife…
I saw the new movie of The Stepford Wives last night… it was very funny, and generally a good little film to watch, and, in principle, the idea’s not too bad either. π It might get a bit boring though, surely? Oh well, I’ve got a yearly film card at my local cinema so I don’t have to pay to get in for, well, a year… I’ll likely go and see I,Robot soon, and whatever else looks interesting.
In other news, I might or might not be going on university visits next week. Depends on whether I can be bothered to get around to organising it, plus it’d mean missing school, which in some ways might be nice, but it really just means having loads of stuff to catch up on later… oh well, there’s always the October holidays coming up!
“You may NOT link to this site”
A few weeks ago, I noticed on Grumpy Gamer an entry with some odd “linking policies” for sites – even sites like the official Olympics site: did you know that you have to get in touch with them before you are allowed to link to their site? Today, colde’s blog pointed me in the direction of dontlink.com, a site listing a number of corporate sites which don’t want you to link to them, which seems quite bizarre.
Weird.
Remember, remember the 5th of, um, September…
Filed under: — orudge @ 8:41 am
… for that was the day when I first played the Locomotion demo. And so far, I think it’s quite interesting. The new construction techniques will take some getting used to, and there are some other things that are a bit different from TTD which are perhaps slightly confusing, or even bizarre (plopping a train from the middle of nowhere onto the track? Oh well, at least my trains won’t get lost trying to go to depots!). Have you played the demo? If so, what do you think? Post your comments here or on the forum!
Hmm, I suppose I’d better get out of bed, I’ve a computer to go and fix for someone soon…
Locomotion demo is out!
A FilePlanet version of the Locomotion demo was released this morning! I’m still awaiting my own copy of the demo, which I should get this weekend – the FilePlanet one is branded for them and must be downloaded via their annoying download system. If you’re interested, check out the tt-forums Locomotion forum.
By the way, does anyone actually want me to write stuff about my offline life here?
Ogg Vorbisifcation
I have recently been seeking out higher-quality Ogg Vorbis versions of many of the tracks in my Winamp playlist, to replace various MP3 tracks, some of which sounded pretty poor (likely due to poor source material – eg, the radio – you can’t always tell where tracks from P2P software have come from). This was made somewhat easier by allofmp3.com, a Russian site where you pay $10/GB to download music in whatever quality you want, whatever format you want, and so on. You can pay by PayPal (well, most of the time… from time-to-time, PayPal decides to close their account due to that annoying thing called the RIAA), so you don’t have to give your credit card details away, and it really is quite good.
Right, advertising over then. Now, I’ve had word back from the company representing Atari with all those Locomotion goodies, and I should be getting them this weekend! I’ll keep you posted. π
Woof!
Thursday!
Yay, it’s Thursday today. That means that it’s Friday tomorrow, and then it’s the weekend! π I have a few plans for things I’m going to do for my sites then, although whether I’ll get around to doing them is another thing…
The End of the World is nigh…
I came across another funny Flash animation earlier (warning: contains strong language), from gprime.net, a site with all sorts of interesting and bizarre stuff on it – check it out. π
Yawn…
Hmm, I’m in school right now, and kind of bored. Although not as bored as I was first period… *that* was boring. Anyway, I just registered transporttycoon.co.uk though, which recently expired “properly”… it’s a disease, I tell you! Oh, www.transporttycoon.net is indeed pointing to my site now, so have fun with that.
Hmm, teacher’s lurking, I best go.
Hmmm, what to write?
Well, I don’t really have anything specific to talk about, so I’ll talk about the weather. It’s nice and sunny outside (and here I am inside updating my blog… ;)). Hmm. I’m going swimming tonight. Hmm.
Oh, I’m still waiting on that Locomotion stuff, if any TT/Loco fans are reading this. (If you are, please post a comment… it’d be interesting to know if anyone bothers reading my ramblings!).
Suggestions for things to write in future updates would be nice too. Oh well, TTFN! π
Locomotion section coming soon
Back in April, Chris Sawyer announced Locomotion, the “spiritual sequel” to Transport Tycoon Deluxe. I will soon unveil my Locomotion site – keep an eye out for it! For the latest news on Locomotion, visit The Transport Tycoon Forums.
Radio 1 “Ten Hour Takeover”
BBC Radio 1 is having what they call a “Ten Hour Takeover” – basically, the listeners are meant to be able to choose the tracks – from anything, however unusual. So, I submitted a couple of unusual tracks, one of which was a Weird Al song – I wonder if they’ll get played? As if… oh well, you never know!
In other news, Steve has more or less completed the basic XHTMLisation of my site. You jolly old readers here won’t see any difference for a while, as I won’t be updating the site until the weekend at least, and even then, you might not see much in the way of differences. π
Fun, eh?
Update: Hey, you’ll never guess what, but they did actually play one of my songs – Tenacious D – Tribute! As I said before, fun, eh? π
Back at the hostel
Oh well, I’m back at the hostel now for another week at school. For those who don’t know, due to where I live, I have to stay on a different island to go to school during the week now, and due to proxy servers, filters, and the like, you more than likely won’t see me on MSN Messenger, IRC, etc. But I’ll try to keep this blog updated whenever I have something to say!
Fun with XHTML
That title reminds me of something… “Fun with Maths”? Fun with something, anyway – which was ironic, as whatever it was wasn’t fun at all. But anyway. [Edit: “Fun with Verbs” (French verbs), that’s what it was!]
Steve^ of #tycoon and Phoenix Scripts has kindly volunteered to XHTMLise my site template (poor fellow, the code’s a right mess), basically because I’m too lazy to do it myself. So, if you still happen to be using Netscape 4.x, Internet Explorer 3.x, or some other ancient browser, it’s perhaps time to upgrade now to be able to continue to view your favourite site in glorious technicolour! π
I like technology.
Magical Trevor!
I was pointed towards this little gem (mirror) a few weeks ago – Magical Trevor! It’s about this little magican who sends a cow into a parallel dimension… it really is quite addictive (more addictive even than the domain buying disease!).
Hmm, while I’m talking about funny things, I came across the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins, an, er, interesting song about there being a “brave little hobbit whom we all admire” in the “land of the Shire”. The video is rather funny too… starring Leonard Nimoy of Star Trek fame (bleh, Star Trek… much prefer Star Wars, me).
Hmm, it’s early – ten past nine! I wouldn’t normally be up for a while yet…
Whee, domains!
Just registered a nice little domain, transporttycoon.net, which is where you will find the TT Station in future (it’ll still be accessible from all existing locations, of course). Very cheaply too, thanks to the US dollar losing value in comparison with the pound! I seem to have been buying a few domains recently… maybe it’s a disease? Oh well, perhaps Chris Sawyer or Atari will want to buy transporttycoon.net off me for millions of pounds/dollars – or maybe not.
I can always hope, eh? π
Yarrr! Talk like a pirate!
Well shiver me timbers! Did you know that 19th September is Talk Like A Pirate Day? No, neither did I, until this morning, when I stumbled across this site this morning, from a topic on tt-forums. The “How To” page is really quite amusing, especially the pirate pick-up lines! π
Oh, bloggeration!
Hmm, trying to integrate this blog with my existing site design. It’s not all that easy. What I have now is an ugly message of HTML and XHTML, along with a smattering of CSS. For the most part, it looks OK, but there are some glitches, and it looks worse than me under the surface… oh well, stay tuned!
Update: Well, here’s the new design… what do you all think? As I say, please ignore the coding… tis not pretty! Anyone want to XHTML-ise my whole site? I could possibly pay you something…
Hmm, a blog!
Well, welcome all to my new blog!
*watches tumbleweed drift by*
Ah, yes. I see this is going to be fun. Well, as Supreme Ruler of the Universe, I feel it is my duty to let you all know what’s going on in my life. So this may well end up being a place for me to do that. And then again, it might not. Random words ahoy!
Yeah.
