BIG NEWS! Ultimate Transport Tycoon Game Repository Launched!
I’ve launched The Ultimate Transport Tycoon Game Repository. This is a huge collection of Transport Tycoon saved games, scenarios plus a few utilities. There are literally hundreds of games to choose from, which you can then rate and comment on. Once you’ve found some games you like, check out the forums and converse with other users. If you’ve designed a great scenario, submit it! Click here to visit the Repository! PS: You can get to the Repository easily by going to www.gamearchive.uk.tt.

I’ve uploaded a version of Bad Seal that Jon Heather has modified and improved, as well as a lot of information on it. Click here to go to the SEAL Workshop. On a slightly different note, I’ve fixed a download problem with the Video Player topic in the Visual Basic Workshop.
Emma page improved (server-side things)
I have pretty much fully moved the Emma page to use server-side script (PHP) instead of client-side script (JavaScript). This should be better for you and you shouldn’t need JavaScript enabled to use it (unless you want to use the New Window button). I will port the TT Music page soon too. (PS: If you’re wondering why the Emma page is in the GEM section, it relates to back in August 2000 when I added a Links page to the GEM section, a link to emmabunton.co.uk was added and, well, it just seemed to grow from there…..)
New Age of Empires Workshop plus TTVL bug fixes
Filed under: — orudge @ 10/05/2001 12:00 am
The owenrudge.co.uk Empire is expanding… I have been working on an Age of Empires Workshop. A few days ago I created a script that processed a text file full of information on AoE units and made it into a nice list. I then created a VB program to help me create this text file, and finally entered all the information on the AoE and RoR units. I will soon add information on technologies and maybe buildings. I also have a couple of campaigns for download as well as a links page. More will be added soon. Click here to check it out! Also, why not chat with other players in the Computer Games Forum?
I have also fixed a couple of problems with the Transport Tycoon Vehicle List, specifically, with certain parameters while using the Toyland lists.
TT Vehicle List moved to this server
I have ported the Transport Tycoon Vehicle List from ASP with a Microsoft Access database to PHP with a MySQL database. It is now much faster and better. Click here to check it out.
New Site Overview

I’ve written a new Site Overview page. If this is your first visit, check it out!
I’ve had some problems…..
A few days ago, my 12.7GB hard disk started making a ticking noise. Later that day, the disk turned into an expensive paperweight. Everything was lost. I had backups of some things, such as OSPlus, but I no longer have the source code to the Transport Tycoon Saved Game Manager or my FreeGEM Setup program (I had backed this up, but there was a buffer underrun while writing the CD with this on and the source code was lost. If you know of any QuickBASIC decompilation utilities, I’d really appreciate it). I should be able to reconstruct TTSGM, but the FreeGEM Setup program may take longer. (I spent hours implementing the multiple feature sets and so on…). As you can see, my web site is fine (it was on the other drive), as is all my e-mail. I’ve bought a new drive and installed Windows on it (it’s much faster now, but then this is the first full reinstallation since December 1998), and various programs, and restored some backups.
Anyway, it might be a while before the next update. Also, I may well release the source code of TTSGM and/or FreeGEM Setup to avoid losing it again. (On the other hand, I might send the code to a couple of other people to keep a backup). Right, I’m off to install some ActiveX controls, then maybe start work on reconstructing TTSGM 2.0.
Finally, if you want the source code to my Bad Seal screenshot utility, then you can’t have it. Why? Because it’s gone too… ![]()

And the April award goes to…..
… starwars.com. I know the award’s a bit early, but the official Star Wars web site recently had a makeover and it is much better. A superb site! Click here to view past awards given to other sites.

New web interface for TTSGM’s Download Games from the Internet feature!
I have created a new web interface for the Transport Tycoon Saved Game Manager‘s Download Games from the Internet feature! Click here to see it! I have also added a form to the TTSGM page that lets you submit games/scenarios/TTSGM plug-ins, etc for me to add. Lastly, on a completely different note, the drop-down menus work with Opera except for the fact that Opera won’t download the JavaScript file containing the code!
Over 11,111 hits to this site!
On the 13th March 2001, at 22:44 GMT, mankind landed on the moon. Oops, wrong one. Sorry, I meant to say, "I got 11,111 hits". And you’ll never guess who had the 11,111th hit to this site: me! (Well, I missed out on 10,000 so I suppose this is only fair…) I was checking a page and I noticed the counter display 11,111, which is displayed on the left here. (Click on it for the full proof…). If you have an interesting hit, such as 12345, 15000, 20000 or whatever, e-mail me!
Drop-down menus for Netscape 4.x!
If you are using Netscape 4.x, hover your mouse pointer over one of the menu names at the top of the screen. I have finally converted my menu script to work under Netscape 4.x. However, with Netscape, the Search box appears on top of some of the menus. I’ll have to move it or make it automatically hide whenever a menu opens. Next task: get it to work with Netscape 6….. [Browser Compatibility]
And the February 2001 Award Goes To…
That time already? Crikey. It’s not been long since I gave the last award… Anyway, the February award has gone to VBWeb. Find out more.
