“The Annoying Thing”

You know, I think it was called “The Annoying Thing” for a reason. This simple little animation, and moreso, the sound that goes with it, originated as a harmless little Flash thing that was at the time very funny. It later morphed into The Insanity Test, and more recently into “The Annoying Thing”. Then some ringtone company buys it and grrr! It’s on the TV all the time, and on Friday, I actually heard someone with it on their phone – NO! It’s completely ruined something that was once really funny. More of a rant here.

Hmm, I’d best go and finish my homework.

  1. That evolution of Crazy Frog fever is seriously too much. Although it does crack me up laughing. Those people who created the Crazy Frog only did this for fun, but when people pinch the animations and sounds and sell them as mobile phone-software, ringtones, etc, they should be nailed to the wall. It is annoying to make profit out of something which was only made for a purpose to cure boredom.

  3. Richard, the guys that created The Annoying Thing were asked by Jamster before selling it. The creators get a cut from every ringtone sold. OK, it’s massively irritating, but hey: at least someone went out and created something that made them some cash. Good for them, and the ringtone company that helped them.

  4. HILARIOUS ๐Ÿ™‚ :- o ๐Ÿ™‚ i dont see why a huge number of British peple find the Crazy frog thing so annoying, its purely found hilarious by me and friends nothing to be crazy or annoyed about. Congratulation to the creators and animators of crazy frog-the crazy guys have put a mark on the market, all the best wishes to there future animations. And by the way ive got to say, what a crazy way to make money, but good though, i like the idea. Iam sure they will come out with more crazy sounds in the near future and really hope to see it back on the TV with a new sonud and animation.

  5. Do you work for Jamster? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can I also ask where you people are coming from? Random searches for “crazy frog” or something, or the Bloggerheads article, or somewhere else?

There’s a little bit more commentary about the Crazy Frog in my latest blog entry, “Prom”.

  10. OK…I love it and hate it at the same time. It’s so f**king annoying, yet strangely arresting. But what I don’t understand is how people can make millions from idiotic things they made at home while they were bored! It’s like the Numa Numa Song! (But I can’t say much, since I downloaded it! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

I guess it just shows that this industry has not a shred of dignity left!
