New web interface for TTSGM’s Download Games from the Internet feature!

Filed under:
  • Site News
— orudge @ 12:00 am

I have created a new web interface for the Transport Tycoon Saved Game Manager‘s Download Games from the Internet feature! Click here to see it! I have also added a form to the TTSGM page that lets you submit games/scenarios/TTSGM plug-ins, etc for me to add. Lastly, on a completely different note, the drop-down menus work with Opera except for the fact that Opera won’t download the JavaScript file containing the code!

Over 11,111 hits to this site!

Filed under:
  • Site News
— orudge @ 13/03/2001 12:00 am

On the 13th March 2001, at 22:44 GMT, mankind landed on the moon. Oops, wrong one. Sorry, I meant to say, "I got 11,111 hits". And you’ll never guess who had the 11,111th hit to this site: me! (Well, I missed out on 10,000 so I suppose this is only fair…) I was checking a page and I noticed the counter display 11,111, which is displayed on the left here. (Click on it for the full proof…). If you have an interesting hit, such as 12345, 15000, 20000 or whatever, e-mail me!

Drop-down menus for Netscape 4.x!

Filed under:
  • Site News
— orudge @ 03/03/2001 12:00 am

If you are using Netscape 4.x, hover your mouse pointer over one of the menu names at the top of the screen. I have finally converted my menu script to work under Netscape 4.x. However, with Netscape, the Search box appears on top of some of the menus. I’ll have to move it or make it automatically hide whenever a menu opens. Next task: get it to work with Netscape 6….. [Browser Compatibility]

I may well add skin support to TTSGM. I’ve posted some screenshots of an experimental version with some skins applied. Take a look here.

New Menu System

Filed under:
  • Site News
— orudge @ 25/02/2001 12:00 am

If you have visited owenrudge.co.uk before, you may have noticed the menu bar at the top of the screen has changed. This has given me a chance to update it, make it a lot easier to maintain, and generally make it better. The site is also a little bit more cross-browser compatible, with some improvements that make it look better on Netscape (Netscape 6 is very strict on CSS – if you have something enclosed in quotation marks (such as "#FFFFFF"), it doesn’t work, but it works on 4.7 and IE).

New Poll System

Filed under:
  • Site News
— orudge @ 12:00 am

I’ve been busy testing out a new poll system. If you scroll down a bit on the right-hand side, you will notice the owenrudge.co.uk Poll. I will change this every now-and-again. The current poll is about Napster – what do you think should happen to it? Vote and see what everyone else thinks too. On a slightly different note, I have remembered to upload the replacement guestbook.php file!

Another new guestbook

Filed under:
  • Site News
— orudge @ 22/02/2001 12:00 am

You know that last guestbook I installed? Well, it had a few problems so I’ve found and installed another, much nicer, guestbook script. And there’s no messing around with Perl either – it’s all in PHP and MySQL (as you will see from the bottom of the page…). Anyway, click here to sign it or view the existing entries I’ve had. Also, on another note, I’ve nearly had 10,000 hits!

And the (*ahem* rather late) January 2001 Award Goes To…

Filed under:
  • Site News
— orudge @ 17/02/2001 1:00 am

I meant to give the January 2001 award around the 1st February, but I never got around to it and then I was on holiday for ten days…. Anyway, the award has gone to TTDX Central, an excellent site for Transport Tycoon fans. Go to the Awards page.

Since the last eight news items have started with ‘I’, I will start this one with something else. Getting back to the subject in hand, I have launched a new guestbook. This is fully integrated into the site and updated. Click here to sign it or view existing entries.

HTML version of TT FAQ uploaded

Filed under:
  • Site News
— orudge @ 16/02/2001 1:00 am

I returned from my holiday in France last night. Before I went, I’d been converting the original Transport Tycoon FAQ and making a nice HTML version of it. You can view most of it here. I’ve still got to do about two more pages, which will be done soon.

TT Saved Game Manager Note

Filed under:
  • Site News
— orudge @ 12:00 am

I’ve discovered that the TT Saved Game Manager ZIP has become corrupted. You should be able to download the whole file (TTMan11.zip) from TTDX Central here. I’ve nearly got version 1.2 of the Saved Game Manager ready, which includes support for plug-ins. If you do not have the Saved Game Manager, click here to download it.

I’ve uploaded the new database-driven TT vehicle list. It’s much better and you can sort it, customise it and display it in pretty much the way you want it. Go to it now.
