Blog: The Life Of A Supreme Ruler
Site moved to new server
I have finally moved owenrudge.net over to Zernebok, my dedicated server. If anything is broken, please let me know… as far as I know, everything should be OK, but you never know. 😉
Français!
Hmm, well, the French listening this morning was a bit of a disaster… everyone found it very difficult, and I don’t think anyone’s passed it. The writing wasn’t so bad, and the reading paper seemed to go fairly well for me. English yesterday was reasonable too… the essay question on Alasdair Gray was rather complicated, but I don’t think I did too badly, and I actually quite enjoyed the Textual Analysis passage on “A Piece of Chalk“, which possibly sounds insane, but, well, maybe I am. 😉
Back at home now until Sunday night, not got any exams until next Monday (Biology), with History on Tuesday. Wish me luck! 😉
Gah, gah, and triple-gah
Well, if you can see this, you’re lucky. The delightful JervHost server has gone and, well, gone again, and therefore owenrudge.net, etc, is Not Workingâ„¢, which is excellent. That also means that my main e-mail account is Not Workingâ„¢ – if you urgently need to get in touch with me, use my owenrudge.com address (owen@). Hopefully JervHost will be back relatively soon… that’s the theory, anyway. *sigh*
Experiments
Well, experiments (Pete and Rich know what I’m talking about) aren’t going too well… however, I’ve got English exams tomorrow, so that’ll be more fun, I’m sure! Hmm, I’m tired, and still ill.
Ill!
Isn’t life great? Today, I woke up with a blocked nose and a headache… and I have exams on Tuesday. Wonderful. 🙂
Oh well, could be worse, I suppose.
Wow, the floor!
Now that’s something! Today, I tidied (most of) my room. This new thing called the floor is fascinating… it’s been many years since I’ve seen it, and it’s actually quite nice. Now to keep this floor clean until we sell the house in May/June… perhaps more challenging!
My brother Tom is in France on a school trip (just like I was some 4 years ago today), so it’s just myself and Dad at home, therefore, things are quite quiet. Hmm, I’m hungry.
OS creation!
Well, I just wrote my first, extremely basic OS kernel. It does very little, but it’s something… fun stuff, eh?
Ehm, what else? Not tidied my room up further yet, must do that sometime. Got prelims next week too, which will be fun! Oh, I have to go and e-mail something for Effigy to The Orcadian… end of exciting blog.
Game Downloads Added
I have decided, due to the general difficulty experienced in finding Transport Tycoon to buy, and due to the overwhelming number of e-mails I get asking for download locations for the game, to provide a mirror of the game downloads here. If anyone has any problems with this, please contact me.
Weird Al…
… is getting on Abigail’s nerves, as I’m listening to (and singing along to) Albuquerque. It’s a classic song, some eleven minutes and twenty three seconds long.
So we broke up and I never saw her again, but that’s just the way things go, in Albuquerque…
Well, best get back to work, eh?
G’day
In response to recent customer feedback, I have decided to make this place exciting. Yes.
*starts singing*
Right, that’s livened the place up a bit. Actually, Abigail’s uncle is very funny… he’ll probably not read this, but if he ever does (hint hint, Abigail ;)), then hello to you, and keep up the good work. 😉
Ehm… did another 50 lengths at the pool today. Tomorrow it’s home time until next Monday, as it’s half term… three out of four periods I don’t have teachers for as they’re either on courses or on paternity leave – so tomorrow should be a fairly easy day.
*stops singing*
And on that note, I’ll say goodbye.
PS: David, your cheque is in the post. (To South Africa.)
And another update…
And it’s another one of those Really Exciting Updatesâ„¢ by none other than Owen Rudge, yes indeed. Today was an exciting day… plants in Biology, American economic crisis in History, poetry in English and general political stuff in French! Followed by the purchase of two lottery tickets and a tin of acryllic eggshell paint. What a day, eh?
Sunday night
It’s Sunday night again, but this three hour boat journey didn’t seem quite as long as the other ones because it was full of little Sanday children, who are going to France… it was 4 years now since I went, doesn’t time fly!
Got my History essay plan doneish, still got a French essay to do. Will do it after supper, or so the theory is…
News migrated to blog
To make things easier for me to administrate, I’ve integrated the site news system with the blog. The archives are now part of the blog – hence the huge increase in the number of months listed on the right of the blog page – and it all seems to work quite nicely. Let me know if you find any problems with it! In theory, this should mean that news on the main page at least is updated more often.
Magical Trevor 2!
Finally, it’s here! 😀
Enjoy, learn, and spread religiously. I’m wondering if this’ll have the same effect on the school/hostel as the original did? Remember, kids, you saw it here first! 😉
Random sites

Hmm, this whole “post every day within a single month” thing isn’t that easy, you know. I’ve been trying since September and still not managed it…
Oh well, was looking through some old e-mails today and found this, from the US Department of Laughs. A bit old, but still really funny. 😉
Talking about funny things… this isn’t so much funny as totally bizarre. Have a look at the Salad Fingers animations at gprime.net (in the Flash section). It’s rather weird and yet strangely funny and addictive.
On another totally unrelated subject, Apple is taking over Microsoft. Not quite “taking over”, as such, but apparently Microsoft’s employees are buying too much Apple stuff (in particular, iPods), and Microsoft is constantly having to remind employees that it doesn’t look too good. Kind of funny, and ironic, really.
Well, that’ll do for one day… pretend I posted this yesterday or Wednesday, if you like.
Churchill
Film last night was actually very funny… the plot was basically centred around the “fact” that Churchill wasn’t the old British man he seemed to be (actually Roy Bubbles)… he was in fact an American! Hitler was rather funny too… more details at the IMDB.
Zernebok.com is now mine, and another, interesting, domain now belongs to Ken: it’s proved very useful already.
The History essay seemed to go OK. Not sure about my English personal/reflective piece yesterday though, guess I’ll have to wait until I get it back, probably tomorrow. Oh well, must go and help a damsel in distress, so that’s what I’ll do…
Churchill: The Hollywood Years
Hmm, should I or shouldn’t I go to the cinema tonight to see “Churchill: The Hollywood Years”? I have no idea what it’s going to be like, but it might be fun… hmm, I’d better go soon in fact if I want to do that. The old free cinema pass hasn’t been used in a while, so might as well make the most of it while I have it!
Talking about Churchill, I had the final 2 hour History extended essay to do today, and it seemed to go reasonably well, probably about as well as it did last year. Whether it’s better or worse, I couldn’t tell, and probably will never know, as you don’t get the specific mark back at the end of the year, just the overall grade for History, which can be a good and a bad thing, depending on your mark, I guess. 😉
Got a French speaking test tomorrow, and got to finish my English writing, so these are two reasons why I probably shouldn’t go to the cinema. I’ll see how long the film is…
And Sunday…
Well, this is fun. Almost as fun as that three-hour boat journey earlier, which actually got in late, so by the time I got to the hostel it was about suppertime. Must go and do some work now though, so bye bye.
Saturday
It appears to be Saturday, and I appear to be slightly tired, so this is going to be another one of those non-posts. But a fun one, I’m sure.
Or maybe not.
Laptop…
Have to be very careful with it, it’s being a right pain. Will stop typing now for that reason.
